USST, met with the guests in Conference Room 201 of Yates Hall, with the participation of relevant personnel from the Party (President) Office, the Academy for Scientific and Technological Development, and the International Affairs Office. The meeting was hosted by Vice President Cai Yonglian.
On behalf of USST, Mr. Wang Lingyu welcomed the Cuban Minister of Higher Education and his delegation,and introduced the history of the university's development, talent cultivation and discipline characteristics. This year is the tenth year of China's Belt and Road initiative, which is a very important milestone. China and Cuba h**e deep traditional friendship, and in terms of promoting the cooperation of One Belt, One Road with high quality, USST has had many in-depth cooperation with the University of H**ana and the Cuban Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industry Group, and has successfully completed the signing and inauguration of the Sino-Cuba International Joint Laboratory of Tumor Diagnostics and Energy Therapy with the University of H**ana, and positive results h**e been achieved in scientific research and technological transformation through mutual learning and sharing. He hoped that China and Cuba will continue to work together to utilize their advantages in innovation and talents to provide more intellectual support for building a community of human destiny.
Garcia expressed his gratitude for the warm reception of USST. Cuba is the first country in Latin America to establish diplomatic relations with China. He briefly reviewed the development history of friendly exchanges between China and Cuba, and g**e a brief introduction to higher education in Cuba. He said that education cooperation has always been an important part of the relationship between China and Cuba, and that the Cuban Ministry of Higher Education attaches great importance to the friendly cooperative relationship with USST and will give great support to it. At the same time, he issued an invitation to welcome the teachers and students of USST to visit and exchange with Cuba, to learn about Cuban culture and education, and to enhance the friendship between Chinese and Cuban people.
During the meeting, the two sides carried out in-depth exchanges on talent cultivation and scientific research, explored opportunities for cooperation at a deeper level and in a wider field, jointly cultivated high-level talents, and contributed to further promoting the development of science and education between the two countries, facilitating humanistic exchanges, and strengthening bilateral practical cooperation.
