“There is no distance to know each other, and ten thousand miles is still a neighbor.” In order to further promote the cooperation and exchange between USST and overseas partner universities, and to continuously promote the opening of the university's education to the outside world, President Ding Xiaodong recently led a delegation to visit France and Greece, and carried out in-depth exchanges with local famous universities, research institutions and our embassies in foreign countries. This visit is the first overseas delegation of USST university leaders in three years, and is an important initiative of the university to comprehensively promote international cooperation and exchange, aiming at actively expanding overseas cooperation, consolidating mutual friendship, and focusing on increasing cooperation in talent cultivation, joint scientific research and faculty exchange. The delegation also met with Mr. Xiao Junzheng, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Hellenic Republic.
During its stay in France, the delegation visited the University of Bordeaux, Bordeaux Polytechnic Institute, Huawei France Openlab, met with professors from the University of Bordeaux and the mayor of Bordeaux Tarrance, etc.
The University of Bordeaux, which was the first stop, has been cooperating with USST for 8 years. Laurent Servent, Vice President of Foreign Affairs, expressed a warm welcome to our delegation, and both sides made a full exchange on the current development of the university in recent years, and had an in-depth communication about continuing to promote the exchange of students between the two universities, actively carrying out joint research and talent cultivation, and will jointly promote a new round of cooperation agreements. The University of Bordeaux is a public university located in Bordeaux, France, founded on June 7, 1441 and reorganized in 2014. It is a universities of Excellence Program in France, with obvious advantages in natural sciences and medical biology, and is also a leading university in France participating in the Erasmus Mundus program.

As the first university in China to carry out smart campus construction with Huawei, USST delegation also visited Huawei Openlab France, listened to a report by Qian Shihong, technical director of the lab, on Huawei's development strategy in France and advanced solutions for digital energy, visited the experimental scenes of smart connectivity, and exchanged views on promoting joint development.

During its stay in Greece, the delegation visited National Technical University of Athens (NTU) and Agricultural University of Athens (AUA).
Before visiting the above-mentioned Greek universities, the delegation firstly met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Hellenic Republic Mr. Xiao Junzheng. President Ding Xuedong introduced in detail the history of USST, its academic achievements and reform initiatives and milestones in talent cultivation. Facing the current new situation of China-EU relations, the delegation listened to the suggestions of our embassy in Greece on how to promote in-depth cooperation in the fields of education, science and technology and talents in a mutually beneficial way by combining the needs of our universities.

During the visit to the National Polytechnic University of Athens, Prof. Andreas Boudouvis, President of the University, together with the Vice President, heads of international cooperation departments and disciplines, warmly hosted our delegation and discussed the deepening of inter-university exchanges and cooperation in the fields of student exchange and disciplinary research. The two sides expressed their mutual hope to sign a memorandum of cooperation between the two universities and to continuously promote academic exchanges between young people of the two countries through various forms of multidisciplinary student cultivation, such as dual degrees, internships and practice, and thus enhance humanistic exchanges.
