On 22nd February, Dr Julia Yi Wang, Deputy Director of International Relations of Liverpool John Moores University visited USST, together with Lucy Fang and Clover Xiao, China Engagement Officer. Ding Xiaodong, President of USST warmly welcomed the LJMU delegation in Room 203, the **C administration building, Fuxing Road Campus of USST. Xu Lin, Deputy Director of International Affairs Office of USST hosted the meeting.
Li Yan, Secretary of the Party Committee of **C; Professor Shan Yanguang, Vice Dean of **C, Interim Principal of **C; Cai Hui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Associate Dean of **C were present.
Dr. Julia Yi Wang expressed her gratitude to the USST community and introduced the recent development and the strategic plan of internationalisation of Liverpool John Moores University. She noted that our partnership has witnessed the rapid development of USST, **C. LJMU will continue supporting USST as well as **C and enhance our cooperation in more fields. Dr. Julia Yi Wang sincerely invited colleagues of USST and **C to celebrating LJMU’s bicentenary in Liverpool together in 2023.
Shan Yanguang briefly introduced **C’s latest development and stressed that the recent study in Paleontology demonstrates strong vitality of our cooperation published on Science with the participation of LJMU and **C. On behalf of the College, Shan expressed his sincere gratitude to all the colleagues of LJMU for their support and contributions. He hoped that both sides will expand cooperation in scientific research, international accreditations, student exchanges, fly-in teacher programmes, summer schools, Master’s degree programmes, Doctorial degree programmes, etc.
President Ding pointed out that USST and LJMU has established a partnership and provided two cooperative programmes: Electronic Information Science and Technology and Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation since 2006. These programmes, recognised by the educational departments in both China and the UK, h**e accumulated experience in international education and built good reputation. Ding stressed that USST will continue promoting opening-up in high-quality education in cooperation with world-renowned universities, research institutes and enterprises, build an international platform for collaborative innovation in science and technology and talent development. It is hoped that both sides will continue making further cooperation in scientific research, international exchanges for students and lecturers, talent development, international competitions, summer schools, joint laboratory construction, etc.
After the meeting, the LJMU delegation was invited to h**e a face-to-face talk with the **C engineering students and lecturers in the Tearoom. Dr. Julia Yi Wang shared her insights in subjects, career goals, British culture and answered questions from our students about their studies.
