In the afternoon of September 28, Vice President Ms. Cai Yonglian hosted a regular meeting of international affairs and the USST leading group of security works for international affairs in the conference room 108 of Science Hall. The meeting was hosted by the International Affairs Office and attended by the directors of international affairs and representatives of relevant teachers from each college.
Prof. Chen Qi, Deputy Director of International Affairs Office and Director of International Students Office, firstly introduced the updated situation of international students, the recent main tasks of international students' work and the promotion of international accreditation, and focused on the analysis of the performance assessment index and implementation of international exchange of secondary colleges in 2022, and suggested that each college should give full play to its own characteristic advantages in exchange students, new universities with mutual recognition of credits and the construction of foreign language websites of secondary colleges to better the international exchange works. Director of International Affairs Office, and Director of the Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs, Prof. Ma Xiaoting, gave a detailed introduction of the achievements in international affairs in 2022. She also put forward the plan of international exchange tasks in the near future, and asked all colleges to do fine and solid works in international exchange affairs and seek progress in a stable way. Dr. Xu Jingwei, Section Chief of International Affairs Office, introduced in detail the application of the sub-program for the construction of high-level Shanghai local universities in 2023 and matters needing attention. During the discussion session, people from each college who were responsible for international affairs and teachers attended made in-depth exchanges on international exchange, international student work and the application of the sub-program of high-level Shanghai local university construction.
Vice President Ms. Cai Yonglian concluded the meeting by pointing out that international affairs should be part of the development of USST and should be integrated with the development of the university, grasping opportunities, projects, platforms and nodes and gathering resources together. As far as international affairs are concerned, strengthened communication and collaborative promotion should be applied between administration departments and colleges as well as among colleges. She also emphasized that international affairs were not small matters, and it was necessary to build a solid firewall for international affairs security to help USST achieve greater success in internationalization.
