Department of Civil Engineering, School of Environment and Architecture(EAS), USST was notified to be shortlisted as German College Students Practice and Int`l Communication Base for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate students. Our Department of Civil Engineering accumulated a solid foundation by joint efforts in Sino-German collaborative interaction in many aspects. Cooperated with RWTH Aachen University, Department of Civil Engineering has successfully finished more than 10 programs, including PPP program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China(NSFC)program, overseas exchanges program from Shanghai Municipal Education Committee and Ministry of Science and Technology(MOST)of North Rhine-Westphalia program. Moreover, Prof. Rafig Azzam from RWTH Aachen University applied the German key program “DFG Schwerpunktpro jekt” jointly with us.
RWTH Aachen University has sent 5 C-4 professors and more than 10 college teachers to USST to facilitate our mutual understanding and academic exchanges. At the same time, they provide multiple study channels for postgraduate and doctorate students to improve their education quality. Likewise, we assign teachers and postgraduates from Department of Civil Engineering to engage in advanced studies in our counterpart. Both sides are energetically publicize the cooperation on the web sites, for instance, the German government website, campus network of RWTH Aachen University, the German embassy website and DAAD website. Environmental Geotechnics Laboratory and National Research Center are co-founded by both sides and we reached consensus on strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation and signed interscholastic collaboration agreement.
The approval of German College Students Practice and Int`l Communication Base is conductive to raise USST profile overseas and gain the support from Berlin.
