University of Regina, Canada and USST signed cooperation agreement

On April 17, D**id Michael Gregory, Provost and Vice President of the University of Regina, Canada, and his four-member delegation visited our university. Vice President Cai Yonglian, Party and President Office, International Affairs Office, College of Science and other relevant leaders attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by Cai Yonglian.


In her speech, Cai Yonglian said that USST was mainly engaged in engineering education and was a high-level university under the key construction of Shanghai Municipality, and the goal of talent cultivation was "to cultivate engineering-oriented, innovative and international high-quality talents with strong foundation and strong practice", USST has established inter-university cooperation with more than 180 universities in more than 30 countries and regions, such as Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States. The College of Science has a strong disciplinary background and has some experience in international exchanges. Through in-depth professional exchanges and cooperation, the two universities will certainly promote new achievements in scientific research and talent training.


Gregory expressed his gratitude to USST for the warm reception. He introduced in detail the situation of University of Regina.  University of Regina is one of the first universities in North America to cooperate with Chinese universities. The university has opened a new program of "Creative Technology Engineering", which includes other disciplines such as computer science, art and science, and has made a lot of achievements in environmental protection and waste recycling research. It is hoped that through the deepening of the cooperation between the two universities, two sides could continue to explore the development of two-way student exchange programs, strengthen cooperation in scientific research and student cultivation, jointly apply for high-level international cooperation projects, and promote high-quality academic exchanges and personnel visits. Gregory also expressed his gratitude to Ding Yuqi, a faculty member of the College of Science and an alumnus of the University of Regina, for his work on this visit.


After that, both parties signed the Memorandum of Cooperation between University of Shanghai for Science and Technology and University of Regina, Canada and the Agreement on Student Exchange Program between University of Shanghai for Science and Technology and University of Regina, Canada. After that, the College of Science and Regina and the relevant staff of the International Affairs Office had an in-depth exchange on the development of disciplines, personnel cultivation, professional cooperation and other aspects.
