On December 1st, "China and Germany: Looking Back and Looking Forward", a sharing session on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany, was held at the German Cultural Exchange Center of Hujiang International Culture Park, hosted by the International Affairs Office and co-organized by the School of Foreign Languages and the Sino-German College. This sharing session invited Counsellor Xiao Jun from the European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Counsellor Jia Jianxin, former Director of the Chinese Cultural Center in Berlin, Zhang Yue, Director of the Overseas Communication Department of People's Daily Online, Luo Xu, Deputy Director of the Multilingual Department of China.com, Professor Pan Yaling from the University of International Business and Economics, and Prof. Dr. Marcus Hernig, Specially Appointed Professor of German Applied Knowledge at the School of Foreign Languages. The sharing session was hosted by Prof. Wang Enuo of the German Department and attracted many students and teachers from USST.

Mr. Qu Deqiang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Languages, welcomed the guests to the session. During the past 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany, the world has seen many changes and ups and downs, and despite the ups and downs, Sino-German relations have maintained a rapid, continuous and stable momentum, always at the forefront of the development of relations between China and European countries. Based on this background, it is significant to hold a sharing session on the theme of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany.

Prof. Chen Qi, Executive Vice Dean of Sino-German College, and Prof. Yang Huainan, Vice Dean of School of Energy and Power Engineering, shared their personal experiences with the guests regarding Sino-German relations in the dialogue sessions, reviewing the shining moments of cooperation and exchange between the two countries in diplomacy, culture, economy & trade, and higher education, and looking forward to the bright future of the two countries. Through their experiences, the guests also hoped to encourage students to be disciplined, to climb the academic peak, to improve their intercultural literacy, to become intercultural messengers who can take up important responsibilities, and to tell the story of USST and China with their own strength.
