On Sep 9th, invited by Prof. Gu Min, the Academician of School of Optical-Electrical and Computer Engineering, Prof. Dou Shixue, the Academician of Academy of Technical Sciences and Engineering and the Forerunner of Institute of Superconductivity and Electronic Materials, along with his wife Academician Liu Huakun, and Sun Jie, the Head of Asian Collaborative Project in International Exchange Office paid a visit to our school. President of USST Ding Xiaodong, Academician Gu Min, and Vice President of USST Cai Yonglian welcomed them.
On behalf of USST, Ding Xiaodong extended warm welcome to Academician Dou Shixue and Academician Liu Huakun, and briefed them on the discipline construction, the latest development and international scientific research collaboration. Li Mei, Dean of School of Materials Science and Engineering, and Zhang Xuedian, Deputy Executive Dean of School of Optical-Electrical and Computer Engineering presented brief introductions to their respective school. Others present at the reception discussed all-round academic collaboration and made detailed exchanges of opinions on intellectual property protection and application of academic patents. After talks, both sides signed a collaboration memorandum between USST and University of Wollongong.
After talks, Academician Dou Shixue led a delegation to visit Australian Cultural Center (ACC) and American Cultural Center (ACC) in the International Culture Park. At the same time, Academician Dou Shixue and Academician Liu Huakun delivered an academic lecture titled “Multifunctional Synergy to Enhance Materials Performance” at room 201 in Yates Hall. The lecture focused on such materials about multifunctional nanomaterials, sodium-sulfur batteries, lithium-sulfur batteries, electrocatalytic materials and superconductors, and presented the latest research achievements in the design and synthesis of new energy storage materials.
